There is no cure for arthritis – a painful and devastating disease. That is why I have registered for Move Your Way, in support of raising funds for the Arthritis Society.
Today, 6 million Canadians are affected by arthritis. These numbers are only going to increase. By 2035, 1 in 4 Canadians will have arthritis. That means you, your partner, your parent, or your sibling just may have arthritis. As the prevalence of arthritis increases, so does the demand for investment into cutting-edge research, proactive advocacy and innovative information and support that will deliver better health outcomes for people affected by arthritis.
In 2015 I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and a year later with osteoarthritis. My arthritis diagnosis landed me on disability at 29 and made life very difficult, especially as a single mother to my son, 2 at the time of my diagnosis. Being diagnsoed with arthritis became the biggest challenge I have faced in my life, I had this invisible moutain in front of me that I had to climb over to thrive with arthritis.
This year for Move My Way I will be hiking my way to a better future for those living with arthirtis. Physical activity is so crucial when living with arthirtis and really helped me in my journey towards better health. However there is no cure for arthritis and even though I have increased my abilities arthritis still wrecks havoc on my daily life with pain, fatigue, depression, anxiety and comorbidities.
Please join me in helping to create a world where people are free from the devastating effects that arthritis has on lives. Make a donation to my Move Your Way fundraising page today!
