I am 10 years old and I have Arthritis. It's not just an old people illness. It affects approximately 1 in 1000 Canadian kids.
I was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) in 2021.
I had a procedure at SickKids to help with the pain in both my wrists, both my ankles and one of my knees. I have to take lots of medicine each day and weekly injections which hurt and make me feel super barfy. It REALLY SUCKS!
The Arthritis Society puts on a camp just for kids with Arthritis and I really, really, really want to go. I want to meet other kids with arthritis and do all the fun activities that this camp has to offer.
Last year due to Covid 19 there was no in person camp. I was so excited when I heard I was accepted into camp for this week long camp in summer 2022. This will be the first time I am going to overnight camp.
In previous years this camp was "free" for kids with Arthritis, it was funded by sponsorship and donors. Unfortunately, this camp is no long free as the Arthritis Society despite its best efforts has been unable to secure major sponsors. The cost of camp is $1500 per kid. I am asking for your help to help me participate in this camp. Any donations above my goal will help other kids attend this camp without putting further financial stain on their families.
Please help make this year's Camp Ontario a possibility for me and so many other kids living with this chronic disease.
Every donation small or big counts and would be so helpful.
THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

Kids with JIA are often unable to attend more traditional camps, which do not have the facilities, specialized health care staff on site or the modified activities to accommodate their abilities.
Today, 6 million Canadians are affected by arthritis. These numbers are only going to increase. By 2035, 1 in 4 Canadians will have arthritis.
