On Sunday, June 3rd, I will be participating in the Walk for Arthritis, an event to help fund research and find innovative solutions for those living with this painful and devastating disease. I am requesting your generous support for this important cause.
Some of you know I come from a family with too many metal joints. My mom has had two knee replacements and my brother has replaced both a knee and a hip. My sister is nursing a "bad" knee and, while I'm trying to age gracefully, I'm really waiting to see which of my joints will go first. Although it is fun to share stories with friends about setting off the security screening alarms at the airport, what is not talked about enough is the the constant, debilitating and nagging pain that comes with chronic arthritis.
By 2035, 1 in 4 Canadians will have arthritis. That means you or your someone in your family will be affected. Why not contribute now to cutting-edge research, proactive advocacy and innovative solutions that will deliver better health outcomes for people affected by arthritis? It is an investment in your future - which I hope will be long and mobile!
