Walk for Arthritis, Montréal

Perry/Hajjar Team

I decided to walk for this cause for many reasons. More personally because it affects my sister Nancy Perry as well as myself. We were both diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylistis when we were in our 20s. AS as it is referred to, is known as an inflammatory rheumatic disease caused by inflammation in the vertebrae (the bones of the spine). The condition mainly hits the lower spine but can also affect the hips, shoulders, knees, chest and other areas of the body as well. AS affects 0.1 percent of the world's population. Having lived with this disease for many years and having lived with the pain, some days worse than others, I am determined to take part in this walk in the hopes that one day, there will be a cure.

Please support the Arthritis Society and our team!

We are walking because there is no cure for arthritis – a painful and devastating disease.

Today, more than 6 million Canadians are affected by arthritis. These numbers are only going to increase. By 2035, 1 in 4 Canadians will have arthritis. That means you or your wife, your mother or your brother just may have arthritis.

As the prevalence of arthritis increases, so does the demand for investment into cutting-edge research, proactive advocacy and innovative information and support that will deliver better health outcomes for people affected by arthritis.

This year the Walk for Arthritis is celebrating its 10th year - help make this the best year ever by making a donation to support this important cause!

Thank you!
