In May 2017 Cassidy's life changed. She stopped walking due to bilateral knee/ankle joint inflammation. These symptoms quickly lead to her diagnosis of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis and an eye disease called Uveitis.
Many people think arthritis is an "older person's" disease. This is untrue. JIA is an autoimmune disease. Cassidys body constantly thinks there is something wrong and it reacts by attacking her joints and eyes.
In order to keep Cassidys pain down and prevent any permanent joint damage she takes A LOT of very strong and very scary medicine every week.
Our family is doing the Walk for Arthritis on June 2nd in Ottawa for Cassidy. Every dollar counts to help our family to continue receiving support and more importantly for more research to be done to cure this painful disease.
