My name is Teo & I'm 8yrs old.
There is no cure for arthritis – a painful and really hurtful disease - that is why I am participating in the Walk for Arthritis for the first time ever!
Today, more than 6 million Canadians are affected by arthritis. These numbers are only going to increase. By 2035, 1 in 4 Canadians will have arthritis. That means your Mom, Dad, sister, brother, grandparents or really ANYONE in your family, just may have arthritis. I've even heard that babies can be born with it!!! Woah!
I'm discovering that arthritis is everywhere. The urgent need for investment into cutting-edge research, proactive advocacy and innovative information and support that will deliver better health outcomes for people affected by arthritis, is really important & it needs to happen TODAY!
This year the Walk for Arthritis is celebrating it's 10th year - help make this the best year ever by joining the Walk for Arthritis community and supporting this important cause!
I am going to walk for my Owa (my Grandma). She had a hip replacement a couple of years ago & curled fingers that made it hard for her to write & do things everyday; it's really hard to watch her suffer.
Please can you support me in my "walkathon"? It's a 1k or 5k walk around Olympic Village, False Creek, over Cambie bridge & back to Olympic Village, on Saturday, June 1.
