We walk for our son ETHAN
Our son Ethan Ferneyhough is a healthy, strong, pain free, 12 year old boy. He is full of life, smiles and laughter. He is social and blessed with the gift of gab. He loves to swim, skooter, bike, ski. He loves gaming and hangin' with his friends. He's livin' the life :)
........ But in this fabulous life we are all faced with challenges that make us who we are. In amongst his smiles and laughter, Ethan was diagnosed with Arthritis- juvinile arthritis - specifically ERA (enthesitis related arthritis). He has been faced with many days of pain to his ankles, knees and hips. He has had injections to his joints, physio to strengthen his muscles and takes daily medication to keep the arthrits "away".
This year has actually been his best. I can say he has been pain free for over a year now. Giving up some sports and activities, to find the ones that make him stronger. He swims twice a week and loves to sooooth his joints in the hotub. He takes a day at a time and so far this year he is winning. We know that a win can't last forever, but we will surly celebrate in the moment !
This is why we support the Arthitis Society and will be walking in the Walk for Arthritis in Calgary this year. We ask for your support to fight this disease !!
"There is no cure for Arthritis" ..... A painful and devastating disease !
"There is no cure for Arthritis" ...... The disease that my son Ethan lives with everyday!
"There is no cure for Arthrits" ....... The disease that makes Ethan's feet, knees and hips ache and swell.
"There is no cure for Arthrits " ....... The disease that Ethan fights on a daily basis .... quietly with his own mind and strength.
"There is no cure for Arthrits" ........The disease that Ethan will live with for the rest of his life.
There is no cure for arthritis – a painful and devastating disease - that is why I am participating in the Walk for Arthritis.
Today, more than 6 million Canadians are affected by arthritis. These numbers are only going to increase. By 2035, 1 in 4 Canadians will have arthritis. That means you or your wife, your mother or your brother just may have arthritis.
As the prevalence of arthritis increases, so does the demand for investment into cutting-edge research, proactive advocacy and innovative information and support that will deliver better health outcomes for people affected by arthritis.
This year the Walk for Arthritis is celebrating its 10th year - help make this the best year ever by joining the Walk for Arthritis community and supporting this important cause!
Michelle,Shane and ETHAN !
