Your help is critical. We need to raise $120,000 to support the research of Dr. O’Neil and other life-changing arthritis research studies.
Why fund Dr. O’Neil’s research?
Rheumatoid arthritis is a devastating and all-too-common autoimmune disease that affects more than 250,000 Canadians. Dr. O’Neil and his team of researchers at the University of Manitoba are studying why white blood cells called neutrophils, responsible for initiating the immune response to viruses and bacteria, begin the chain reaction that causes the immune system to attack the body’s own healthy joint cells, resulting in rheumatoid arthritis.
Better understanding how rheumatoid arthritis develops could dramatically change the lives of people living with the disease. This can lead us ever closer to more effective and earlier treatments and, one day, a cure.
