We’re opening our Arthritis Education and Rehabilitation Program back up for in‑person appointments. Support this critical program by spreading the word and considering a donation to the Arthritis Society.
Safety is our top priority
Life during the COVID‑19 pandemic is vastly different than it was just a few months ago and like all organizations, we are adapting to meet the challenge. One thing that has not changed is our commitment to Canadians living with arthritis.
In Ontario, the Arthritis Rehabilitation and Education Program (AREP) connects people living with arthritis with specially trained physiotherapists, occupational therapists and social work professionals to help them manage their arthritis.
At the end of March, our AREP staff began providing virtual care through video calls and on the phone while we put a pause on in‑person appointments and classes. We are thrilled to share that we are now beginning to see clients in-person again. To ensure the safety of our clients many who have immune systems that leave them vulnerable to infections — and staff, our AREP front-line professionals will be wearing a full set of personal protective equipment (PPE) which includes a mask, face shields, and gloves. And our clients will be required to wear masks during their appointments in line with Ministry of Health guidelines.
Safety and supporting people living with arthritis are our top priorities. To meet needs for the foreseeable future, we have ordered a reasonable supply of PPE, at a direct cost to the Arthritis Society.
You can support Ontarians living with arthritis today by donating to support a safe transition to in‑person care in the midst of the COVID‑19 pandemic.
